We facilitate the redirection process end to end. As a conduit between those with building material waste to dispose of and those who can use it, we efficiently manage each step along the way.

Coordinating removal, transportation, and storage

Removal and pick-up

We work with the owner’s general contractor, demolition/deconstruction contractor, and/or facilities personnel to coordinate the removal and transfer of the extracted materials to the recipients.

Delivery to recipients

CbMC partners with recipients to assess transportation needs, provide delivery and pricing options and coordinate the pickup and delivery of the materials.

Temporary storage alternatives can also be provided and coordinated by CbMC as needed.

Reporting project impact and successes

At the end of every redirection project, we provide a report that summarizes its environmental, social, and financial impacts, including:

  • Tonnage of waste diverted from landfills

  • Amount of carbon emissions avoided

  • Value of donated materials

  • Sales revenue

All environmental metrics are supported by calculations via independent, third-party entities.

In addition, we work with our clients’ public relations firms to convey accurate information about the positive environmental and social impacts of redirecting building materials away from landfills.

Evaluating available inventory

CbMC works with our clients and their design and construction teams to understand the scope of the construction project. We then conduct site visits and create a detailed inventory of materials to be redirected.

Consultant connection and coordination services

When additional information is required about any building material, CbMC will connect recipients to third-party resources including testing laboratories, certification laboratories, material engineers, structural engineers, architectural and interior design firms, and appraisers.

Developing a Redirection Plan

Once a list of materials to be redirected is finalized, we create a Redirection Plan. This plan outlines our redirection efforts for each material based on the difficulty of removal, probability of placement, carbon emissions eliminated, tonnage of waste diverted, and residual value.

Finding the next user

CbMC actively notifies our network (e.g. architects, builders, recycling, upcycling, original manufacturers, and others) of new or upcoming materials that meet their needs. They can view pictures and details of available materials on our website and inquire directly with a CbMC representative.
